We’ve created a solution to address health literacy while helping to save the planet! Our solution allows you to print a QR code on your patient’s label to provide them digital access to their prescription information.

Here’s how it works

When your pharmacy subscribes to VUCA, your patients will have a QR code printed with every prescription. When patients scan this QR code, they’ll now have access to:

  • Patient education sheets
  • Medication guides
  • A short video about their prescription
  • High resolution image of their medication

Patients will also have the ability to share this information with family and caregivers.

We’ve already fused with most pharmacy management systems to make offering our products as seamless as possible.

You may ask yourself,
don’t I have to print paper?

We have been working directly with Executive Directors and Boards of Pharmacies to advocate for a digital alternative to traditional methods of prescription information. In all 50 states and the Washington D.C., pharmacies can now offer a paperless alternative the traditional leaflets given with every prescription.

* Although the Board of Pharmacy has not issued written approval, current state regulations do not require medication information to be provided to patients on paper.
**Although the Board of Pharmacy has not issued written approval, current state regulations do not require medication information to be provided to patients on paper when prescriptions are picked-up in the pharmacy. However, regulations do require that medication information must be provided to the patient on paper when the patient does not receive the prescription at the pharmacy (such as by delivery) or where communication barriers prohibit oral communication.

What are the potential savings?

Assuming one sheet of paper costs the pharmacy $0.01 with the average prescription requiring three sheets of information and the average toner will cost $150 per 25K sheets of paper.

Here’s two examples:
Pharmacy Location #1
  • Total number of prescriptions per day: 100
  • Cost of paper per year: $1,095
  • Cost of toner per year: $657
  • Total: $1,752
Pharmacy Location #2
  • Total number of prescriptions per day: 400
  • Cost of paper per year: $4,380
  • Cost of toner per year: $2,628
  • Total: $7,008
